The Heart Spring of West Nose Creek

Big Spring Creek

This is near the mount of Big Spring Creek and the West Nose Creek confluence. You can see that there was once a riparian zone, and the cold spring water of Big Spring Creek has preserved the timber. Further upstream, new willow growth is starting, but livestock need to be kept away.

Small feeder springs are the arteries of a trout stream

There are a number on Big Spring Creek

The map to the left shows a few of them, one is

The upper reach is a substantial size ground spring head wat

    The Upper Big Spring

I have walked the upper spring area with the land owner and contacted the other land owner near the confluence of the West Nose and Big Spring - The stream was also surveyed by Guy Woods and found it's entire length is 4,286 Metres of first class trout stream, without the trout. Too bad so sad!

The Length of the Big Spring Creek

The fine red line follows a distance of channel length of 4,286 metres, from head water to mouth on West Nose Creek

Video of Big Spring Creek and West Nose Creek.

If you know trout, you can see the potential of this valuable spring creek, which provides the life giving flow and water temperature, ideal for wild trout!
